A popular hike with a steady descent, this trail begins at a neighborhood playground equipped with bathrooms and water fountains. Parking is easily available, and the trail is popular with locals.
You'll begin on top of a hill overlooking a small forested canyon between two neighborhoods, with stunning views of the Easy Bay basin and San Francisco in the distance on particularly beautiful days. The trail will lead you down a gentle hillside into the canyon - and in the mornings or late afternoon, hikers often see deer grazing on the brush. The latter half of this hike travels along a small brook that produces a wide variety of mushrooms. The trail ends at the intersection of Sandstone Trail.
To return, hikers can either go back the way they came, or continue along Sandstone Trail in either direction and walk back to their car on surface streets.
