The Thunder Creek Trail is a 12-mile, out-and-back trail located within the Ross Lake National Recreational Area. Because of its moderate terrain, the Thunder Creek Trail is suitable for both inexperienced hikers and children. At the highest sections of the Thunder Creek Trail, hikers will get to enjoy breathtaking vistas including the magnificent Ross Lake, the Thunder Creek and the colossal Ruby Mountain. A variety of wild vegetation such as old cedar forests, Douglas Fir Trees and ferns dominate a bigger section of the Thunder Creek Trail. Leashed dogs can access this trail. Drinking water is available on this trail, however, hikers should ensure that they treat it first. While hikers do not have to pay an access fee, anyone who intends to camp on the Thunder Creek Trail should first obtain a backcountry camping permit at the ranger station.
