The Rampart Ridge trail is a 4.8-mile, loop trail located within the Mount Rainier National Park near Longmire. A heavily trafficked trail, the Rampart Ridge Trail is best used for nature walks, bird viewing, snowshoeing, and hiking. Being a seasonal trail, the Rampart Ridge trail is best used from June to October. Marmots and bears are quite common along the Rampart Ridge Trail. At the highest sections of the Rampart Ridge Trail, hikers will be rewarded with picturesque views of Mount Rainier and the expansive Rampart Ridge. It is important to point out that pets are not allowed on the Rampart Ridge trail. Since potable water is not available along the Rampart Ridge trail, hikers should remember to carry plenty of drinking water. A National Park Pass is required to access the trail.
