The Purple Creek Trail is a 14.2 miles, out-and-back trail located in Stehekin, Washington. Regardless of the season, this trail is always lightly trafficked. The Purple Creek Trail features forested areas (unburned areas) and burned areas resulting in fascinating forest mosaics and open meadows. The unburned areas have Douglas fir and Ponderosa trees. The recovering areas have burned trees, fireweed, and they provide an excellent habitat to woodpeckers. Larch and subalpine fir characterize the open meadows. At the highest sections of the Purple Creek Trail, hikers will get to enjoy great views of Castle Rock and many other Northern Cascades peaks. Dogs are not allowed and kids are not recommended along this trail. Because the Purple Creek Trail lacks a reliable water source, hikers should remember to carry plenty of drinking water. A Northwest Forest Pass is required to access the Purple Creek Trail and the parking area.
