Located a few miles from Leavenworth, Washington, the Mountain Home trail is a 4.9-mile, out-and-back trail. A seasonal trail, the Mountain Home Trail is best used from March to October. Mainly used for hiking, mountain biking, running, nature trips and bird watching, the Mountain Home Trail is the perfect destination for hikers with intermediate hiking skills. While the effects of the 1994 Rat Creek fire are still evident, dense forest, blossom roots and a variety of wildflowers cover a bigger section of the Mountain Home Trail. The resulting environment supports a wide range of flora and fauna including songbirds, deer, and black bears as well as lupines and balsamroots. While dogs can access this trail, they should always be on a leash. Hikers may obtain drinking water from nearby streams and rivers. However, it is important to treat the water first before consumption.
