Located along the Stehekin River, the McGregor Mountain Trail is a 16-mile, moderately trafficked, out-and-back trail. Ideal for the most experienced hikers, the McGregor Mountain Trail presents hikers with the opportunity of enjoying scenic views from its highest points. At the highest sections of the trail, hikers will get to enjoy grand views and breathtaking sceneries including the tranquil Howard Lake, the colossal Howard Creek as well as the glaciated Dome peaks and Glacier peaks. Dogs can access this trail; however, they should be on a leash. While hikers may obtain drinking water from the nearby streams and lakes it is important to treat the water first before consumption. Anyone who intends to camp overnight at the McGregor Mountain trail must obtain a backcountry permit.
