The Horseshoe Basin trail is a 12-mile, out-and-back trail located in Stehekin, Washington. A moderately trafficked trail, the Horseshoe Basin trail is accessible throughout the year. Being the perfect destination for any nature lover, the Horseshoe Basin trail features several indigenous plants such as Indian Paintbrush and Pine trees. A variety of wild animals such as deer, bighorn sheep and bears can also be spotted while hiking on this trail. Though this is a short steep climb, hikers will be rewarded with outstanding sceneries including lush greenery and breathtaking mountain views. It is important to point out that dogs are not allowed on this trail. To camp on the Horseshoe Mountain trail, hikers should first obtain a background permit at the ranger’s office. While hikers may get drinking water from rivers and streams, it must be treated before consumption.
