The Grove of the Patriarchs nature trail is a 1.2-mile, out-and-back trail located within the Mount Rainier National Park near Randle. A heavily trafficked trail, the Grove of the Patriarchs Nature Trail is rated easy and is mainly used for camping, hiking, nature walks, running and bird watching. Being a seasonal trail, the Grove of the Patriarchs Nature Trail is mostly used from May to September. Plants found along the Grove of the Patriarchs Nature trail include Douglas fir trees many of which are more than a thousand years old as well as western red cedar trees. A National Park Pass is required to access the Grove of the Patriarchs Nature Trail. From the highest point of the trail, hikers will get a panoramic view of the Ohanapecosh River and the Ohanapecosh falls. It is important to point out that dogs are not allowed on the Grove of the Patriarchs Nature trail. Hikers should always carry plenty of drinking water when visiting the trail.
