Uncle Tom’s Trail is a short 0.7-mile, heavily trafficked, out-and-back trail that takes you from the top of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to the base of the Lower Yellowstone Falls in Yellowstone National Park. With an elevation gain of 500 feet, the Uncle Tom’s Trail is kid-friendly but not wheelchair accessible due to the several flights of steep stairs. Uncle Tom’s Trail is open to hikers any time of day and is best used in summer and fall. The trail offers up-close electrifying views of the Lower Falls and the Yellowstone River. Hikers on Uncle Tom’s Trail take approximately 30 minutes. There are bathrooms with flash toilets at the car park, but bring fresh drinking water.
