The Turtleback Mountain Preserve: Ship Peak Loop Trail is a 2.9-mile loop trail located within the Puget Sound and Islands. A moderately trafficked trail, it is best used for walking, running, bird viewing and hiking year-round. Pine and fern are most commonly seen along the trail. At the highest sections of the Turtleback Mountain Preserve: Ship Peak Loop Trail, hikers will get to enjoy immersive views of Jens Island, Crane Island and Deep Harbor. Hikers pass through Orcas village and Shaw Island on their way to the trail. While dogs can access the trail, they should always be on a leash.
