The Sunrise Rim Trail is a 5.5-mile, loop trail located within the Mount Rainier National Park near Packwood, WA. A heavily trafficked trail, the Sunrise Rim Trail is often used for camping, hiking, nature walks, walking, bird viewing and running. Since the Sunrise Rim Trail is seasonal, it is best used from March to October. Indigenous plant species found along the Sunrise Rim Trail include paintbrushes, bear grass, pasque flowers, and fleabanes. Deer and bears are among the few animal species found along the trail. From the highest sections of the Sunrise Rim Trail, hikers will get to enjoy panoramic views of glaciated Mount Rainier, Tatoosh Range, Glacier Peak, Mount Baker and Mount Adams. Dogs are now allowed on the Sunrise Rim Trail. Since the Sunrise Rim Trail does not have potable water, hikers should remember to carry plenty of drinking water.
