Slaughter Canyon Trail is an 11.1-mile temperately trafficked trail located in New Mexico. It takes about 7 hours to complete the out-and-back hike. This trail is mostly used from March to October but is accessible all year round. It has beautiful lupine and Shasta daisies and or caving, bird watching, hiking, and nature trips.
The cave trail is up the hill where you will go through a gate into the main visitor’s office. Inside the cave, they are safeguards and rimstone dams. There are structures like walls of china, king Solomon’s mine, tom truckers’ room, and the monarch, but the most unique and famous from other caves is the Christmas tree and the Clansman.
During the summer, the Slaughter Canyon Cave tour group can fill up to 20 slots. Children under the age of 8 are not allowed inside the cave. Be ready to carry a powerful flashlight, helmet, a pair of gloves (which you must keep on while you’re in the cave) and bottle of water.
