The Slate Peak Trail is 6.3-mile, out-and-back trail located near Mazama, Washington. A lightly trafficked trail, the Slate Peak Trail is the perfect destination for families with children and pets. It offers a variety of activity options like hiking, bird watching, nature trips, camping, and skiing. Dogs are allowed on the trail on condition that they are kept on a leash. A seasonal trail, the Slate Peak Trail is best used from May to October. The Slate peak Trail offers fantastic views of the Cascades. The Sawtooth peaks are breathtaking from the highest sections of the Slate Peak trail. Drinking water is quite scarce along this trail, hence hikers should remember to carry plenty of drinking water. Just like other sections within the Pasayten Wilderness, a pass is required to park and to access this trail.
