The Similkameen Trail is a 4-mile, out-and-back trail located in Oroville, Washington. Because of its gradual terrain, the Similkameen Trail is suitable for children and inexperienced hikers. Accessible throughout the year, the Similkameen Trail is mostly used for hiking, biking, bird watching and wildlife spotting. Additionally, the Similkameen Trail is home to a variety of wildlife such as coyotes, grizzly bears, wolves, deer and even birds such as eagles and falcons. At the impressive Girder bridge, hikers will get to enjoy scenic views of the steelhead runs, salmon and the breathtaking river gorge. While dogs are allowed on the trail, they should always be on a leash. Hikers may obtain drinking water from nearby rivers and streams; however, they should remember to treat the water first before drinking.
