Rim Trail is a point-to-point, 1.6-mile route with moderate traffic. The trail’s major utility is hiking, but people can use it for nature trips. The Rim Trail is rated easy due to a 16 feet elevation gain. The trail is also wheelchair accessible due to the flat grasslands. Family, including kids, will enjoy the good views of the Badlands, wildlife, and wildflowers. Dogs are not permitted on the trail. The path is open for hiking in spring, summer, and fall. The trail does not offer drinking water or shade, so hikers must bring theirs.
