The Mount McCausland trail is a 7-mile, out-and-back trail located within the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness near Leavenworth. A moderately trafficked trail that’s rated difficult, the Mount McCausland Trail is mainly used for hiking and nature walks. Being a seasonal trail, the Mount McCausland Trail is best used from June to October. Plants found along the trail include paintbrush and louseworts. Bear and cougars are also quite common along the Mount McCausland trail. From the highest sections of the trail, hikers will be rewarded with scenic views of Lake Valhalla and Mount Lichtenberg. While dogs are allowed on the trail, they should always be on a leash. Hikers should remember to carry plenty of drinking water.
