Located near Mount Desert, Maple Spring Trail is a 2.7-mile, moderately trafficked, out-and-back trail. This trail is used for hiking, nature trips, and birding. The Maple Spring Trail is available for use any time of the day year-round. Hiking on the trail takes approximately 2 hours. With an elevation gain of 731 feet, this trail is rated intermediate, but is not recommended for kids. Dogs are allowed on the trail, but they must be kept on leash. The Maple Spring Trail is home to beautiful wild flowers, lots of spectacular little waterfalls, and wildlife. The trail passes the beautiful double-arched Deer Brook Bridge too. There is no water point along the trail so be sure to bring plenty of fresh drinking water.
