Located within the Spokane Area, Eastern Washington, the Little Spokane River Natural Area-Knothead Loop Trail is a 7-mile loop trail that’s rated moderate. A multi-use trail, the Little Spokane River Natural Area-Knothead Loop Trail is best for hiking, nature trips, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing. Being a seasonal trail, it is best used from April to October. The Little Spokane River Natural Area-Knothead Loop Trail is home to diverse and spectacular wildlife such as deer and mules. Picturesque and bright wildflowers such as the wild yellow iris are quite common around spring. At the highest sections of the trail, hikers will get to enjoy breathtaking views of the distant and tall Mountain Spokane as well the little Spokane River. It is important to note that dogs are not allowed on the trail. To access the trail, hikers should obtain a Discover Pass. While hikers can get water from nearby streams and rivers, they should remember to treat it before consumption.
