The Licorice Fern Trail is a 3.8-mile out-and-back trail, located within the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. Accessible throughout the year, the Licorice Fern Trail offers great vistas including the Far Country falls. Because of its gradual terrain, the Licorice Trail is suitable for children and inexperienced hikers. The most common uses of the Licorice Trail include hiking, walking, running and even nature trips. Indigenous plants such as the sword ferns are quite common on the trail. While dogs are allowed on the trail, they should always be kept on leash. Hikers should carry plenty of drinking water since there is no potable water on this trail. Bug spray will come in handy because there are plenty of bugs on the Licorice Fern Trail.
