Found in the Northern edge of Porcupine, near Ontonagon, Michigan, Lake Superior Trail is a scenic destination for nature trips, hiking, bird watching, and walking. This out-and-back trail is among the longest and most complicated trails in the Porkies. The 16.6-mile trail, with a 918-feet elevation gain, is mostly moderately-trafficked and it is considered a challenging hike. It’s an all-year-round place, but from March to November, the trail is most enjoyed. Children and dogs on a leash are allowed. People on wheelchairs may enter, but with help. Apart from wildlife and assortments of vegetation, the Presque Isle River and waterfalls along the trail are amazing. Camping and lake swimming is allowed and toiletries, food, water, and cooking gear are also available.
