Ladder Trail is a 2.7-mile, heavily trafficked, loop trail located near Bar Harbor, Maine. This trail has an elevation gain of 1,131 feet, with rock stairs and some iron ladder pieces and rungs for climbing up particularly steep parts, hence recommended for only moderate to experienced adventurers. Dogs are also not allowed on this trail. The Ladder Trail is used for hiking any time of the day, and is best used from April until October. The Ladder Trail rewards hikers with scenes of beautiful wildflowers, wildlife, fantastic views at the top of Dorr Mountain of Cadillac Mountain to the west and Champlain to the east, and Mount Desert Island. Parking is available at the trailhead, but hikers must carry enough fresh drinking water.
