Featuring a waterfall, wildlife, forests, wildflowers, and meandering rivers the Heliotrope Ridge Trail is a popular 5.9 miles loop trail. A seasonal trail, the Heliotrope Ridge is best used from March until October. Children and dogs are able to use this trail. Accessing the Heliotrope Ridge is free of charge, however, campers have to obtain a Northwest Forest Pass prior to camping. Hikers should also remember to carry hiking gears including trekking poles, water shoes, microspikes, crampons, and full-on boots, as the Heliotrope Ridge Trail is slippery, muddy, icy and has snow at the top. Hikers can obtain drinking water from the rivers, and lakes found in Heliotrope Ridge; however, be sure to treat the water before drinking it.
