Located within the North Cascades National Park, the Hannegan Pass and Peak Trail is a moderately trafficked 10.4-mile, out-and-back trail. While it begins with a gentle gradient, the Hannegan Pass and Peak Trail tends to get steeper as the hiker proceeds along the trail. Offering picturesque views of the Nooksack Ridge, Mt. Shuksan, Mt. Ruth, Mt. Baker, Goat Mountain, and the Cascade peaks, The Hannegan Pass and Peak Trail offers the ultimate hiking experience. While the Hannegan Pass and Peak Trail offers great hiking and camping experiences, it is not suitable for children and inexperienced hikers because of its strenuous terrain. To access the Hannegan Pass and Peak Trail, a Northwest Forest Pass will be required at the trailhead. A Background Permit will also be required at the trailhead for those who may want to camp overnight. There are several natural water sources, thus hikers should remember to carry water filters.
