The Gothic Basin Trail is a strenuous 12.5-miles, out-and-back trail, that is located within the North Cascades National Park, Washington. Rated difficult, the Gothic Basin Trail features some steep sections making it an ideal destination for seasoned hikers. Notable views and sightings on the Gothic Basin Trail include the meandering Sauk River, the breathtaking Granite Falls, the glacial Foggy Lake, the colossal Gothic Lake, chirping marmots, and a variety of rare alpine plants. To access the Gothic Basin Trail, hikers must provide a Federal Recreational Pass at the trailhead. A highly trafficked trail, the Gothic Basin Trail is best used from June to October. It is important to note that the roads leading to the trailhead may be closed seasonally, thereby adding extra miles to the trail. While dogs on leash are allowed, kids are not allowed on the Gothic Basin Trail. Hikers are also advised to carry plenty of water.
