Located within the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park near Bellevue, the Coal Creek Falls Trail is a 2.5-mile, out-and-back trail. A heavily trafficked trail, the Coal Creek Falls Trail is often used for walking, bird watching, hiking and nature trips. Being a seasonal trail, the Coal Creek Trail is best used from March to October. From the highest point of the Coal Creek Falls Trail, hikers will get to enjoy scenic views of the waterfall and golden yellow leaves which are outstanding from the rest of the forest. Cedars, maple, alders, salmonberries, and ferns dominate a bigger section of the trail. While dogs can access the Coal Creek Falls trail, they should always be on a leash. Hikers are advised to carry plenty of drinking water, however, they will still be able to refill their water bottles from various natural water sources along this trail. It is important to treat the water first, before consumption.
