The Burroughs Loop Trail is a 9.4-mile loop trail located within the Mount Rainier National Park near Ashford. A heavily-trafficked trail, the Burroughs Loop trail is mainly used for backpacking, camping, nature walks, walking, running, and bird watching. Being a seasonal trail, the Burroughs Loop trail is mostly used from March to September. Pine trees and lichens dominate a bigger section of the Burroughs Loop trail. Mountain goats, chipmunks, marmots, and pike skitters are also quite common along the Burroughs Loop trail. From the highest sections of the Burroughs Loop trail, hikers will get to enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Rainier. It is important to point out that dogs are not allowed on the Burroughs Loop trail. Hikers should always carry plenty of drinking water when visiting the trail. To access the Burroughs Loop trail hikers will have to obtain a National Park Pass.
