Buckhorn Mountain is a 16.2-mile, moderately trafficked open path to the mountain peak at the highest point of the Olympia Park. As the name dictates, it is named after the appearance of its two summits which seemed like deer horns. Buckhorn Mountain offers unique views of Constance and glacier peaks, Iron Mountain, the Big Quilcene River wildflowers, and mountain goats. The mountain is best accessed between July to November. Buckhorn Mountain is primarily used for mountain climbing, backpacking, and hiking activities. Hiking Buckhorn Mountain is suitable for older kids and dogs on leash. However, the rocky surface is not suitable for wheelchair users or bikers. Buckhorn Mountain has an elevation gain of 3,950 feet and it is rated strenuous for hiking. Bring water bottles and filters to obtain water at Camp Mystery.
